Dawid Kubacki of Poland also won the third FIS Grand Prix competition of the summer in Courchevel (FRA). After his victories in Wisla (POL) and Hinterzarten (GER), Kubacki jumped on 133.5 m and 127 m in Courchevel and took the win with 274.2 points. He came in clearly ahead of his teammate Maciej Kot (130.5 m and 128.5 m; 266.0 points) and Denis Kornilov (RUS) and Roman Koudelka (CZE), who tied for third with 262.4 points.

For Kubacki this was the third win this summer and the fifth in a Grand Prix event. With 133.5 m in the first round Kubacki also had the longest jump of the day. "I still make some small mistakes, so I'm not at 100 % yet. But I'm jumping on a quite good level and it's good enough to win, so I'm happy about that. I hope I can improve so I'll have perfect jumps in winter. Right now my main focus is to work on these small things so I can get even better", Kubacki said after the competition.

In front of 10 000 spectators, the Polish team of head coach Stefan Horngacher could celebrate already the second double victory this summer. Second-placed Maciej Kot said: "I'm really satisfied with my jumps because I had some problems in the qualification. I had to focus and show good jumps in the competition. The competition was not easy, sometimes there was a strong tailwind, but it doesn't matter if you jump well. This competition was important for us because our one-week holiday starts tomorrow and it's better to relax when you know things are going well."

Best German was once again Stephan Leyhe from Willingen. Leyhe is jumping consistently strong this summer and is now one of the top athletes on the German team. Today Stephan Leyhe was fifth. Karl Geiger and Andreas Wank finished 21st and 25th, Constantin Schmid was 27th and achieved a strong result in his first Grand Prix competition. Behind Leyhe, Piotr Zyla was third-best Pole in sixth. Stefan Hula completed the great team result for Poland in ninth.

Russians and Italians strong

Third-placed Denis Kornilov has already had very good jumps in training and the qualification and confirmed his upward trend in the competition. "I didn't expect to be in the Top 3, this result is a nice surprise for me. Today is the birthday of my son, so this was a present for him. In the last two months I was working on my flying system and it was getting better and better, but I still have a lot of things to improve", said Kornilov.

Besides Kornilov, Mikhail Nazarov also showed a convincing performance in 18th. All in all it was a top result for the Russian team. The two Italians also did very well this evening. Davide Bresadola was 12th and Sebastian Colloredo 14th. This is a top result for the two athletes of head coach Lukasz Kruczek.

Manuel Fettner and Stefan Kraft in 8th and 10th provided a decent result for the Austrians. Gregor Deschwanden and Simon Ammann still made some mistakes, but they clearly showed some improvement. A 17th and a 22nd place today are a good foundation for the rest of the summer for the Swiss.

Dawid Kubacki now leads the overall ranking of the Grand Prix with the maximum of 300 points. His teammate Maciej Kot (210 points) and Stephan Leyhe (154 points) follow in second and third. With 1218 points, the team of Poland is clearly leading the Nations Cup ahead of Germany (631 points) and Norway (600 points).

The next competitions of the Grand Prix will be held on August 26th and 27th in Hakuba (JPN).
